The biggest football showpiece in the continent of Africa(AFCON) is upon us. The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon will be up against the Stallions of Burkina Faso in the curtain-raiser.

 

AFCON 2021-Cameroon against Burkina Faso in kick off @ 1700h (1600h) local time, the venue is the new Olembe Stadium in Cameroon capital Yaoundé.

The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon is a force to reckon with in AFCON, they have won the competition five-time and will be hoping to extend it to the sixth. Being the host nation they will certainly desire to have a good outing in front of their fans at home.

The Indomitable Lions last hosted this competition in 1972, this will be a good time for Cameroon to win the most coveted Africa title.

For the Stallions of Burkina Faso, the goals appear to be lofty. The Stallions went to Cameroon with the goal of improving on their greatest performance in 2013 when they narrowly lost in the final to Nigeria.

 

It may be difficult to start against the hosts, but the Burkinabe appear to be a team on a mission, and they appear to be willing to go to any length to achieve it.

“We are facing the hosts which is difficult. But we have the means to achieve our objectives, and to go as far as possible in this competition. We will play with a young generation of talented players. Our first objective is to get past the group stage and our ultimate target is the title.”
