Arsenal start to the season has been dreadful conceding nine goals, losing all three matches and without scoring a goal. A performance like this is not accepted by a football club that has set a high standard in the past.
As expected the criticisms have come so hard on the Manager Mikel Arteta and the Arsenal board.
So many have questioned their recruitment in this summer transfer window that has seen: Odegaard, White, Sami, Tavares, Ramsdale and deadline day addition Tomiyasu joined the club.
Are these players good enough to compete with the top teams player, so far the few of them that has played in this season are yet to prove their doubters wrong?
ARSENAL NEW SIGNINGS INVOLVED THIS SEASON ASSESSED
1] BEN WHITE
£50m signing from Brighton had his debut for Arsenal against Brentford on the opening day of the English Premier League.
He struggled to cope with Brentford high press and running in behind. He alongside other Arsenal defenders were bullied all through the match. This is a familiar story with Arsenal defence been Weak. Ben White had no answers to Brentford high press.
Is it too early to dwell on his performance knowing he just joined the club and that was his first game?
2] SAMBI LOKONGA
£15m signing from Anderlecht has played in Arsenal opening two fixtures. He is 21years old who still has a lot to learn from the game.
In both games, Sambi effect in the midfield was not effective.Sambi has been taking football lessons from the opponent.
In the Brentford game, he could not cope with the physicality of the Brentford players. Against European Champions Chelsea the quality and experience of Jorginho, Kovacic was glaring for all to see.Sambi just has to learn from these better players on that day.
Sambi was only good enough for the bench against Manchester City.
£8m signing from Benfica has not really had game time since joining Arsenal. He came as a substitute in the 81st minute for Calum Chambers and showed few glimpses of skills.
He also came in as a substitute for Tierney 66 minutes on the clock against the European Champions.
The left side was exposed all through the match by Chelsea Reece James which led to both goals.
He was only good enough for the bench against Manchester City.
ARSENAL SUMMER TRANSFER SPENDING
The gunners have spent a whooping sum of £156.8m on signings this summer transfer window. They are the biggest spender in this summer transfer window.
WHAT HAS GONE WRONG
The defensive frailties of Arsenal are yet to be resolved by Mikel Arteta and his coaching staff. This is the biggest problem in Arsenal team, the simple basics of defending they lack. It makes me ask what do the defenders do on the training ground.
Chelsea played a very good Liverpool side with a man short an entire half and the closing stages of the first half, still, they managed the game very well and came with a point.
Arsenal team with a man down against a good side like Liverpool, you know the outcome it will be thrashing. They cannot defend, it is the truth.
