Davido postpones festival to honor his late son, Ifeanyi
Nigerian singer-songwriter David Adeleke, known by his stage name Davido, has postponed his upcoming Are We African Yet (A.W.A.Y) festival to honor his son, the late Ifeanyi Adeleke.
The singer’s management apologized to fans for the disappointment and vowed to make it up in a message posted on the festival’s Twitter account.
The statement states that Davido wants to spend more time with his family during this difficult period of bereavement.
The statement reads: “We have made the difficult but necessary decision to postpone A.W.A.Y Festival until November 18, 2023. To all ticket buyers, your tickets will be honoured for the 2023 date. Thank you for understanding, and we look forward to seeing you all in the near future.”
The musician reportedly made his first appearance on Instagram on Monday after deactivating his late son’s account and unfollowing DJ Cuppy and Femi Otedola out of grief.
