Fire razes shops under Apongbon bridge in Lagos

Blazing fire at Apongbon
On Wednesday, a fire destroyed shops beneath the Apongbon section of the Eko Bridge in Lagos State.
The fire caused gridlock and slowed commercial activity in the Lagos Island area of the state.
Though the cause of the fire incident could not be determined at the time of filing this report, it was learned that the inferno destroyed goods worth millions of naira.
Lagos State Traffic Management Agency tweeted, “Traffic from Eko bridge has been re-routed to Ebute-Ero to link inner marina. Men of fire service and other security agencies are still on the ground. Therefore, CMS bridge and Eko bridge inward/outward Apongbon is close to traffic at the moment,”
Another Tweet just in from Lagos State Traffic Management Agency says “With regards to the earlier reported fire incident at Eko bridge, Men of @LAG_FireService have been able to put out the inferno temporarily while all hands are still very much on deck for any eventuality”.
