Former Deputy Senate President of Nigeria, Ike Ekweremadu and his wife Beatrice Ekweremadu were remanded in custody and are due to appear in Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court today.

A former deputy senate president of Nigeria Ike Ekweremadu and his wife Beatrice have been charged with conspiring to bring a child to the UK in order to harvest organs, the Metropolitan Police says.

 

Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu, 55, and Ike Ekweremadu, 60, were remanded in custody and are due to appear in Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court today, according to sky news

Following an investigation by the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime team, charges were brought against the Nigerian couple.

 

A child has now been protected.

 

The investigation was launched after detectives were alerted to potential violations of modern slavery legislation in May 2022, according to the force.
