NAFDAC seizes 120 tonnes of hides and skin(Ponmo) in Lagos, they were intercepted on the notion that it was processed with chemicals for use in leather industries yet they were being sold to Nigerians for consumption.
Cow hides are prepared as a renowned Nigerian delicacy known as “ponmo.”
It is currently unknown from which nations they were imported.
According to NAFDAC, seven individuals have been apprehended.
It went on to say that the raids on warehouses were conducted out in response to “many complaints” from members of the public about the distribution and sale of unsafe products.
