Naira crunch: Radio presenter with Fresh FM in Ibadan dies while trekking to office
Isaac Brown, a presenter with the radio station announced the passing away of Bintin on air on Saturday, Punch reports says.
It is said that the deceased fell while walking from Amuloko to the station at Challenge in Ibadan.
Additionally, it was said that he made the decision to hike after trying in vain to find a point of sale (POS) agent to withdraw money.
“I’m finding it very difficult to believe this story that is breaking here,” Brown was quoted as saying.
“He (Baba Bintin) left his home like we all did this morning to come into this station to do our daily job and contribute our quota to national development; the job like we love to do, and I’m being told that the man just slumped this morning and he died while getting ready to come here.”
Baba Bintin was one of the anchors of ‘Oyin Ado’, a Saturday programme on the radio station.
He was popular for his mastery of the Ijesha dialect and was fondly called “Boda Olu” and “Uncle” by some of his colleagues.
As of the time of this publication, Fresh FM had not yet issued a statement regarding his passing.
Concerns about the continuing naira shortage have persisted throughout the nation.
