On one of the placards the message on it says:Feeding the nation but now we are feeding the staff #8000 basic salary.
Another says in Pidgin English:NA THE SAME MARKET WE DEY GO,the english translation is we all go to thesame market.
A management staff came using a megaphone to address the protesters but they did not give him listening ears. They demanded that the Group Managing Director should address them.
Few of the protesters that I spoke with but did not give their names for personal reasons complained specifically on the disparity in salary between their salary and that of the main staffs of Flour mills of Nigeria. As they put in as much effort into the growth of the company and wonder why they are been treated unfairly.
The Nigeria Police Force and other security outfits trooped in their numbers to ensure the protest does not degenerate into violence and also to control free flow of vehicular movement.
Apapa were the protest is happening is known for heavy traffic gridlock so it was important that the Police ensure that the Protest does not add to the sufferrings of people plying the road.
