Rapper, Ice Prince Zamani remanded in Ikoyi prison
Nigerian rapper, Ice Prince Zamani has been remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre by a Magistrate Court in Ajah, Lagos.
The Lagos State Police Command arraigned the rapper on Friday for allegedly kidnapping an officer.
When the charges were read to him in court, the defendant pleaded not guilty.
Magistrate Taiwo Oyaniyi granted him bail in the amount of N500,000 and required two sureties.
Ice Prince will remain in jail until he fulfils his bail conditions. The hearing was postponed until September 7.
According to police, the rapper, real name Panshak Henry Zamani, was pulled over around 3 a.m. for driving without license plates.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, Public Relations Officer, stated that he agreed to be taken to the station.
“He, thereafter, abducted the police officer in his car, assaulted him and threatened to throw him in the river”, the spokesman said.
The incident occurred after police promised to charge singer Daniel Benson, also known as BNXN, with assaulting and spitting on an officer.
